Jeausseran’s Golden Goal Propels CofC to 2-1 Win Over Dukes

Harrisonburg, Va. – Adan Noel's shot deflected off the keeper and Nicolas Jeausseran was there to finish the job for the College of Charleston men's soccer team (3-5-1; 1-1-1 vs. CAA) on Saturday, as the Frenchman scored the golden goal (96') for the Cougars to lift the team past the JMU Dukes (0-8-3) in a thrilling 2-1 overtime win.
• Jeausseran's game-winner was his first goal of the season, and it comes in his third start of the season in as many games. Noel meanwhile tallied his second game-winning assist of the year, his first coming back in the season-opening 2-0 win over the Navy Midshipmen during the Aaron Olitsky Memorial Soccer Classic.
• Nico Rittmeyer scored the equalizer for the Cougars in the 31st minute thanks to a fancy bit of footwork that fooled JMU's Kyle Morton. Rittmeyer managed to deek his way past the keeper, and with a wide open net, buried the opportunity to knot things up at 1-1. It was Rittmeyer's second score of the year.
• James Madison started the scoring off in the 18th minute when Brandon Clegg buried a header off of Tim Estermann's corner kick. James Madison ultimately outshot the Cougars 15-14 in the contest, but Kevin Shields only had to make three saves for the College to come away with the win.
• The win puts the Cougars at four points in conference play, which ties them with UNCW for a share of fourth place in the CAA.
The College will return home next Saturday to square off with Drexel (1-7-2) within the friendly confines of Patriots Point at 7 p.m.
