MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The College of Charleston men's tennis team dropped it's match against No. 54 ranked Middle Tennessee, 5-2, on Saturday.
The Cougars (9-5) had their hands full against a Blue Raiders (13-3) team that had won their previous three matches in a row.
Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, Rodrigo Encinas, maintained his winning ways against Middle Tennessee after securing a win in the No. 3 singles slot against Ayed Zatar, 6-3, 6-2. Encinas has now won his last five singles matches in a row. Vasily Kichigin also secured a point for The College in the No. 5 singles match, defeating Luis Morillo 6-4, 7-5.
Juan Estevarena and Rodrigo Encinas took the No. 1 doubles flight, 6-4, winning as a tandem for the 10th time this season. Unfortunately, Charleston dropped the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, losing the doubles point.
The College will look to rebound on a short turnaround as they face Drexel and DePaul on Tuesday, March 22, and Wednesday, March 23 respectively. Each of the matches will be played at the Tennis Complex at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant.
