MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Charlie Ghriskey earned the College of Charleston's final point in a tie-breaker ruled match in the No. 2 singles, pushing the score to 6-1 on Wednesday at Patriots Point.
The Cougars have now compiled a record of 11-5 on the season, and have gained momentum heading into the back half of their season. They won their last match against Drexel, 5-2, on Tuesday.
“We have had a lot of opportunities against top teams this season, and I think we are really coming together from those matches and playing some of our best tennis right now” Ghriskey said.
The Cougars came out hot in the doubles competition, securing wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 flights and leaving the No. 3 flight unfinished, as the point was already secured. The No. 66 nationally ranked tandem of Juan Estevarena and Rodrigo Encinas won their 12th match of the season, and their fourth in a row.
In the singles competition, Zack Lewis took the first point over Alex Galoustian, 6-2, 7-5, and three more Cougars followed his lead. DePaul secured its only point of the match in the No. 5 singles match.
The College's next match will take place on Friday, March 25 against East Carolina, at their home in Greenville, N.C.
