GREENVILLE, N.C. – Rodrigo Encinas extended his singles winning streak to eight matches, as they Cougars maul the Pirates of East Carolina, 4-2, on Friday.
The College of Charleston (12-5) have now won their last three consecutive matches, and are riding a hot streak through the second half of the season. It has only lost one match against an opponent not ranked in the top 75 nationally.
The No. 66 ranked doubles tandem of Juan Estevarena and Rodrigo Encinas continued their dominant ways, winning the No. 1 doubles flight, 6-3. Unfortunately, The College dropped the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, giving East Carolina the point heading into singles play.
Charleston would overcome that 1-0 deficit quickly in the singles matches, as Estevarena, Encinas, Zack Lewis, and Vasily Kichigin would all come through for the team and claim victories, giving CofC a 4-2 lead. The No. 6 singles match would go unfinished, as the match was decided before its conclusion.
The College of Charleston men's tennis team will travel back home to practice and prepare for a few days before they travel to Elon, N.C. to face Colonial Athletic Association rival Elon on Friday, April 1 at 3 p.m.
