CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team used the early signing period to grow stronger for the future this week, as three players signed national letters of intent to join the maroon and white for the 2018-19 season.
"The overall makeup of this freshman class coming in next year will change the dynamic of this team, especially on the defensive end," head coach Candice M. Jackson said. "I think this group will really help us establish a winning tradition, having all played for very successful high school and AAU programs. A group like this can help transform the culture and help make sure we're all striving for the same thing."
Arynn Eady • 6'1" • Forward
Atlanta, Ga. • St. Francis HS

An honor student with a sterling 3.8 GPA, Arynn Eady joins the Cougars from St. Francis High School in Alpharetta, Ga. Playing as a combo forward, Eady helped the squad win a Class A Region championship, and helped the team advance to the final four as a junior. Prior to her time with St. Francis, she was a breakout player at Riverwood HS, winning back-to-back AJC All-Metro honors and back-to-back 7A All-Region 1st Team Honors. A former volleyball and track athlete as well, she was also recruited by FAU, Columbia, Western Kentucky and Western Carolina.
"Arynn is somebody who we're very excited about," Jackson said. "She's great at that forward position, and she'll be a great replacement for Tanisha Brown after she graduates this year. She can score from the low post or the high post, her athleticism is off the charts, and she's very strong. I think she could play the four or the five for us, and she likes to run in transition."
Latrice Perkins • 5'11 • Guard
Winder, Ga. • Winder-Barrow HS

A former high school teammate of CofC freshman Lexi Maddox, Latrice Perkins comes to the College of Charleston from 6A institution Winder-Barrow High School in Winder, Ga. Helping the Bulldogs to a 65-24 record during her three years thus far, Perkins led the squad to a finals appearance in her sophomore year and an elite eight appearance as a junior. She took home All-Region honors last season, and to date, has 962 points, 97 assists and 216 steals to her name following a junior season in which she averaged a 10-3-4 with four steals per game. She was also recruited by Georgia State.
"Latrice and Lexi Maddox go way back, the two are best friends and played AAU ball together," Jackson said. "I see a lot of Breanna Bolden in her game. She's extremely athletic with a great mid-range game, she gets out, runs in transition and rebounds the ball well. She has a little bit of experience running the point as well, so I think we're going to see a lot of fun and exciting things out of her."
Madison Taylor • 5'8" • Guard
Raleigh, N.C. • Ravenscroft School

Hailing from Ravenscroft School, CofC sophomore Cailin Dorsey's former home, Madison Taylor is a native of Raleigh, N.C. Playing the point guard position for the Ravens, Taylor helped the team establish a 68-18 record during her tenure thus far. The team found great success under her guidance, reaching the finals in her sophomore campaign and finishing first last season. An extremely decorated recruit, she's been named All-Conference for four straight seasons, and received both All-State and TISAC Conference Player of the Year honors in her past two seasons. She ranks third on her school's all-time scoring list with 1316 points to date, and is a former standout in track & field, earning state qualifiers in the 100y dash, the 4x100m relay, and the long jump. An extremely sought-after recruit, she was also courted by Clemson, Georgetown, Villanova, Gardner-Webb and UNC Asheville.
"Madison can play both the point guard and shooting guard positions really well," Jackson said. "One thing you'll notice about her right away is that she absolutely loves to play defense, which is something that we need especially on the perimeter. She's extremely athletic and has experience on the EYBL circuit, so she's played against some of the very best talent in the country."
