CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's tennis team (7-4) will have one final tuneup before their first CAA match of the year, as they are slated to take on the Illinois State Redbirds (5-10) at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
The College comes off a weekend of mixed results, falling 4-0 to Richmond on Friday before bouncing back with a 7-0 win against Lynchburg College. Jake Kusmider and Alec Angradi stood out in singles play against the Hornets, with each player scoring 6-0, 6-0 shutouts of their opponents.
Tuesday will mark the first time the Cougars play Illinois State, or any other member of the Missouri Valley Conference, during the Jay Bruner coaching era.
Illinois State's match with the College will be their second of the day, as they are slated to face off with The Citadel earlier beforehand. At 5-10, the Redbirds have lost seven of their last eight matches, including their most recent 7-0 defeat at the hands of DePaul. ISU is led by Andreas Boers, who's posted a 7-5 dual record primarily in third flight action.
