Men’s Tennis Looks to Exorcise Blue Demons on Thursday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's tennis team (9-5) resumes its home-stand on Thursday at 4 p.m., when they will square off with the DePaul Blue Demons (11-7).
The Cougars come off a 5-2 win over The Citadel on Tuesday, winning for the ninth consecutive year against their Lowcountry rival. CofC raced through the doubles point, and then won in the top three singles flights and on court six to prevail with a win.
The College met the Blue Demons previously last season in a match that CofC won 6-1. The Cougars swept through doubles play, and then won on every singles court but No. 5. Juan Estevarena and Rodrigo Encinas were both unbeaten in that match, winning together in top flight doubles before proceeding to win their singles matches in two sets each.
DePaul is well-accustomed to the Lowcountry at this point, having played two matches in Charleston over the last two days. The Blue Demons won at The Citadel 6-1 on Tuesday, before falling 4-3 in a neutral site match at Patriots Point against SC State.
Coming off a 10-15 season, DePaul has already improved on their mark from last year. They've split their last six matches 3-3, and are currently in the middle of an eight-match road swing. Nathan de Veer leads the team from top flight singles, and sports a 10-7 record.
Admission is free of charge for all CofC home tennis matches. Live stats will be made available at cofcstats.com, and a live video feed will be made available as well.
