Cougars Crush Colonels 6-1

THIBODAUX, LA. - The College of Charleston men's tennis team (5-3) got back to its winning ways Sunday, rolling through Nicholls State (4-4) for the 6-1 victory.
Doubles play took three matches to decide the point, with all three flights coming down to 6-2 decisions. Benedikt Henning and Alec Angradi struck first in flight two, but the Colonels tied things up in flight three, leaving it to Juan Estevarena and Vasily Kichigin to pick up the flight one win to seal the point.
Singles play started off with Luke Kusmider battling past Leo Santos in the sixth flight 6-4, 6-0 to put CofC up 2-0.
The Cougars grabbed their third and deciding fourth point in quick succession, with Fernando Ramirez Lascurian winning 6-4, 6-3 in flight five and Juan Estevarena knocking off Nicholls State ace Bernard Wezeman 6-4, 6-2 to guarantee the win for CofC.
The Colonels got one back in flight three, but the Cougars finished strong to take two more points as the day came to a close. Benedikt Henning defeated Sam Meessen 6-3, 6-2 in the second flight, while Ryan Khan won a thrilling 7-6(6), 6-2 showdown with Max Sinn in flight four.
The College will remain in Louisiana until Tuesday, when they close out the road-trip in the Big Easy against New Orleans (3-2).
