Pirates Walk the Plank as Cougars Conquer Hampton 7-0

HAMPTON, VA. – The College of Charleston men's tennis team (13-5) pushed their winning streak to five in a row Saturday, scuttling the Hampton Pirates (4-8) by a score of 7-0.
The Cougars pounced on the Pirates in doubles with two quick wins on courts two and three to secure the point. Flight one was another story, as Juan Estevarena and Rodrigo Encinas required a 7-6(5) tiebreak to put their opponents away.
All six singles matches concluded in two sets, beginning with Alec Angradi's 6-2, 6-2 win on court six. Vasily Kichigin was not far behind in flight three with a 6-3, 6-2 victory, and Benedikt Henning pushed his unbeaten streak to ten matches with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph on court two to seal the match.
The most hotly contested singles encounter of the day was between Rodrigo Encinas and Peter Odegbami in flight four. Odegbami wouldn't go down without a fight, ultimately falling 6-2, 7-6(2).
The Cougars will return to action on Sunday in a road matchup with Old Dominion.
