CHARLESTON, S.C. – After winning their season-opener 1-0 against the Campbell Lady Camels on Friday night, the College of Charleston women's soccer team (1-0) will look to make it a perfect 2 for 2 when they host the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at Patriots Point at 6 p.m. on Sunday night.
The Cougars got off to their season on a positive note Friday, when an
Alyssa Beck goal late in the first half was enough to lift the College to the win.
Genevieve Henderson made four saves to earn the shutout in the team's first meeting with Campbell since 1997.
The College traveled to Conway last season to square off with CCU, and the Cougars were able to dominate the Chanticleers 3-0 in that contest.
Laura Ortega led the way with a pair of goals,
Sara Deutsch managed an assist, and the two teams wound up tied at 13 shots a piece.
Lauren Killian earned the shutout by way of a five-save performance.
CCU comes off a 3-0 season-opening road win over Wofford on Friday, with Elisabeth Rockhill leading the offense with a two-assist performance. The Chanticleers return their top point-scorer from last year in Daniella Famili (9g, 2a), and are led by 7
