HARRISONBURG, Va. --- Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) recorded her ninth double-double of the season, and Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) moved into second on the program's all-time assists list as the No. 20 (VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll) College of Charleston volleyball team fell to James Madison, 3-1, in Colonial Athletic Association play on Friday evening.
James Madison (15-3, 7-0 CAA) won the match by scores of 25-19, 25-19, 21-25, and 25-21. The Dukes finished with 69 kills, 68 digs, eight blocks, and a .308 hitting percentage while holding College of Charleston (13-8, 4-3 CAA) to 47 kills, 61 digs, five blocks, and a .214 attacking clip.
Rachel paced the Cougars with 17 kills and 11 digs, as Beckman dished out 40 assists to take over second on the program's all-time assists list. Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) put down 10 kills, while Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) and McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) collected 14 and 13 digs, respectively. Peyton Eisnaugle (Dallas, Texas) tallied eight kills on 16 swings, and Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) narrowly missed a double-double with nine digs and eight kills.
Briley Brind'Amour led the way for JMU with 19 kills, as Bryn Recker turned in a double-double with 16 kills and 17 digs. M'Kaela White and Kelly Vahos each recorded 14 kills, while Sarah Martin posted a double-double with 55 assists and 10 digs. Sarah Driscoll collected a match-high 28 digs.
The Cougars are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Towson, Md. to take on the Towson Tigers in CAA play.
