CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The No. 20 (VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll) College of Charleston volleyball team looks to rebound with a crucial road trip to James Madison and Towson this weekend. The Cougars face the Dukes on Friday at 7:00 pm in Harrisonburg, Va., and the Tigers on Sunday at noon in Towson, Md.
Series History
Friday's match marks the 16th all-time meeting between CofC and James Madison. The Cougars lead the all-time series, 11-4, including two wins in 2017. The Cougars and Tigers will meet for the 12th time on Sunday, with CofC leading the all-time series, 9-2, after the teams split the season series in 2017.
Scouting James Madison
James Madison enters the weekend with a 14-3 overall record and a 6-0 mark in CAA play. The Dukes lead the CAA in opponent hitting percentage (.164) and blocks (2.46), while ranking second in hitting percentage (.257), kills (14.00), and assists (12.94). K'Kaela White ranks second in the CAA in hitting percentage (.412) and leads the conference in blocks (1.51).

Silvia Grassini and Olamide Sonuga enter the weekend ranked fourth (.346) and sixth (.327), respectively, in hitting percentage.
Filling the Gap
Freshman setter Amani Dunston stepped up in a big way on Sunday against Northeastern, tying a season-high with 23 assists and adding a campaign-best 12 digs to account for her first collegiate double-double.
Double-Double Dynamos
Devon Rachel and Lauren Freed have been models of consistency for the Cougars through the first 20 matches with 15 double-doubles. Freed has accounted for seven double-doubles thus far - including three straight to start the campaign - while missing the mark by only two or less digs in four other contests. Rachel owns eight double-doubles this season, and has narrowly missed six more against Western Kentucky, Dayton, Pitt, Elon, William & Mary, and Northeastern.
Climbing the Ladder
Senior Allison Beckman has continued her rise through the program's all-time assists list this season, and with a personal four-set best 57 assists on Sept. 15 against Liberty, became the fourth player in program history to reach the 4,000-assist mark. Beckman currently sits eight assists shy of tying Sara Plinska (1994-97) for second all-time.
Top Marks
The Cougars are off to a torrid start to CAA play, leading the conference in kills (14.10) and assists per set (13.20), while ranking third in hitting percentage (.237) during league action.
