ATLANTA, Ga. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team (22-11) will face Georgia Tech (18-14) in the second round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship on Friday, after both teams advanced past St. John's and South Florida, respectively, in Thursday's first round. First serve is slated for 7:00 pm from the O'Keefe Gymnasium on the Georgia Tech campus.
Championship Preview
The Cougars enter the 2018 National Invitational Volleyball Championship as the No. 2 seed in the Georgia Tech regional, and are one of the highest-rated teams in the field based on RPI at No. 63.
Series History
Friday's second round match-up marks the seventh all-time meeting between the Cougars and Yellow Jackets. Tech leads the all-time series, 5-1, with the Cougars sweeping the Yellow Jackets in the teams' last meeting on Sept. 1, 2013.

The Yellow Jackets enter Friday's second round with an 18-14 record after rallying from a 0-2 deficit to defeat South Florida on Thursday in a five-set thriller.
Georgia Tech ranked fourth in the ACC in digs per set (14.62) and team kills (1,496) during the regular season. Mikaila Dowd (3.59) and Mariana Brambilla (3.41) lead the Yellow Jackets in kills per set, while Kodie Comby paces the defense with 109 blocks (1.00 per set).

Mandy Napierala has been a force at the net for the Cougars over the last 10 matches, averaging 1.86 kills per set and hitting a blistering .423 to help the Cougars to a 7-3 mark over that span. The junior middle blocker put together a career night last night, setting a new career-best with a match-high nine blocks.
Leading the Pack
Lauren Freed turned in one of her best performances of the season on Thursday night, posting a double-double with 18 kills and 16 digs while hitting .308 to pace the Cougars to a 3-1 win over St. John's.
Chasing History
Head coach Jason Kepner is in his 12th year at the helm, and already ranks as the longest tenured coach in program history. Kepner's 286 career wins is tied for first on the school's all-time list alongside Nancy Wilson (1974-83).
History Maker
Allison Beckman continues to solidify her standing as one of the best setters in program - and CAA- history, currently ranking topping both the school's and conference's career assists list during the rally-scoring era. The 2017 CAA Setter of the Year ranks second all-time at The College, and third all-time in the CAA with 4,876 assists as a Cougar.
