CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's soccer team welcome in-state and in-city rivals, Charleston Southern, to Patriots Point on Thursday evening. The teams will compete for the annual Silver Cup with The College currently on a 10 year, nine-game win streak and 19-game unbeaten streak against the Buccaneers.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. with tickets set at $6 for adults and $3 for youth (18 & under). Student entry is free with a valid form of ID.
Scouting Charleston Southern
CSU bring an undefeated record to Patriots Point after defeating both Wofford and Florida International 1-0, either side of a 1-1 draw with Mercer. The Buccaneers have scored three goals this season, all from different scorers. Notably, in preseason they travelled to Daytona Beach, Fla., for a matchup against Miami, drawing 0-0.

This will be the 27
th meeting between the programs and the eighth under head coach
Christian Michner. Michner is 8-0 against the Buccaneers with his teams scoring 20 goals against CSU and only conceding six. Charleston are currently on a 10 year, 19-game unbeaten and nine-game win streak against Charleston Southern, the last loss coming in Oct. 1998.

Maddy Brill-Edwards in on the right wing. Brill-Edwards crossed for Beck to tap in two yards from goal. Beck then turned provider for
Laura Ortega with a cross from the left wing. Ortega controlled eight yards from goal and slotted bottom left to push the lead to two. Deutsch then scored the goal of the game with a mazy 40-yard run from the right wing, beating four FIU players, before whipping a left-footed effort from 20 yards that hit the post and went bounced across the goal line.

Laura Ortega continues to edge closer to program history. Ortega is five goals from tying the career record of 24 set by Kristin Rhyne (2003-05) and just four points from tying the points record (59, also set by Rhyne). Ortega is currently second in career points with 55, tied fourth in goals with 19 and is tied-third all-time in assists with 17 (five from the career record).
