CULVER CITY, Calif. --- Incoming College of Charleston freshmen Tori Carpenter (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Logan Pope (Chapel Hill, N.C.) were named to the 2018 PrepVolleyball.com High School All-American list on Tuesday, joining more than 400 of the nation's top prep volleyball players.
Carpenter adds to her list of honors with a spot among the Highest Honorable Mention after leading Brentwood high School to its third consecutive state championship. The 6-foot setter is also one of 25 finalists for the 2018 Andi Collins Award, which is presented to the nation's top senior setter in honor and memory of Andi Collins, who passed away from cancer one month shy of her 17th birthday in 2003. Carpenter recorded 1,530 of her 3,497 career assists as a senior, and finished her career at Brentwood with a record of 136-13.
Pope garners High Honorable Mention recognition after leading East Chapel Hill High School to a 24-5 record, and a berth in the third round of the 3A NCHSAA State Playoffs as a senior. The 6-foot-3 right side earned a spot on the Wildcat Invitational All-Tournament Team in back-to-back seasons and finished 2018 with 330 kills, 58 blocks, and a .368 hitting percentage.
The Cougars are expected to return 10 letter-winners from this year's squad, including rising seniors Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio), Mandy Napierala (Rochester, N.Y.), Peyton Eisnaugle (Dallas, Texas), and Kayla Demari (Dana Point, Calif.).
