CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team opens the 2019 Colonial Athletic Association Championship with a first-round matchup against the No. 7 seed William & Mary. The Cougars, the No. 10 seed, face the Tribe on Wednesday in Newark, Del., with tip set for 2:30 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center live on CAA.tv with Matt Janus on the play-by-play call.
QUOTABLE – HEAD COACH CANDICE M. JACKSON
"March is what the season is all about, you start all the way in July, August, to prepare yourself for March… To be here in Delaware, playing a good William & Mary team, it's exciting… There's something about March that gets people amped, the seniors have a sense of urgency because they don't want their season to end, everyone's thinking Championships, we're all going for the same thing… Everybody's record is 0-0 after you get seeded and it's a one game season, however much you put into it is what you're going to get out of it."
On trying to get a third win this season against W&M…
"We don't think about the last two games, like I said this is a different season… Postseason is totally different to regular season, so we can't think about those last two games, that doesn't guarantee anything… William & Mary is a very good team, good senior leadership from Bianca Boggs, they have some all-conference players that do really good things… We can't focus on the two wins we've had before, they don't matter at this point."
On Charleston's three post-season CAA honorees…
"Very proud of all the girls, the whole team… Darien and Deja, seeing how they've come up in this conference, they've really started to stand out, the go-too players on our team and to be recognized for their hard work, it means a lot… For Arynn, she's special, she's going to be special… She's so strong and when I think she realizes how good she really can be, she's going to make a lot of noise in this league."
