CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team plays host to George Washington and Fairfield, Friday and Sunday, in a final tune-up before a Spring Break trip to San Jose State next week. This will be the first meetings between The College and the Colonials and Stags, Friday's match slated for a 1:30 p.m. first serve at Patriots Point with Sundays matchup set for 1 p.m.
Scouting George Washington
The Colonials are 3-1 through their last four matches, most recently defeating CAA rival Towson 6-1 on Mar. 10. GW has also faced two other conference rivals to Charleston, falling 7-0 to William & Mary and 4-3 to Drexel Feb. 22-24, with notables wins coming against Maryland, for the first time in program history, and Navy. This will be the first meeting in program history between the Cougars and the Colonials.
Scouting Fairfield
The Stags are 3-2 on the spring season, winning three straight before most recently falling to Stony Brook. Fairfield hold wins over Bryant, Saint Joseph's and La Selle, the other loss coming at St. Johns in their season opener. This will also be the first meeting between Charleston and Fairfield in both programs history.

Woodson picked up the weekly award after going 2-0 in flight one action against CAA rivals UNCW and in-city rivals Charleston Southern. Yates is 10-2 in singles play, 9-2 in flight five and 1-0 in flight four.
The Season Opening Weekend
Charleston picked up a season opening win over USC Upstate on Jan. 18, with senior duo Turner Yates and Sarah Zschunke winning on court three to claim the doubles point. Christi Woodson, Lily Labiche and Yates all winning in straight sets on courts one, two and five to give The College a 4-3 win.
Yates strong singles action continued against Wake Forest and Clemson, the senior earning the CAA Singles Player of the Week nod after pushing No. 98 ranked Deacon Peyton Pesavento to a narrow third set loss (6-3, 2-6, 4-6), before leveling up against the Tigers Miller-Krasilnikov, 3-6, 6-1, before the match was called early.

Charleston looks to the leadership of four seniors and one junior in head coach Angelo Anastapoulo's 28th season in charge. Laura Arciniegas, 2018 All-CAA Singles Second Team selection Christi Woodson, Turner Yates and Sarah Zschunke return alongside Anastasia Palaska, Ava Turner and Catalina Medici from a 2018 squad that finished 17-11 in the CAA Semifinal round. Newcomers include sophomore Eva Nyikos, a transfer from North Florida and sister to last season's senior Helena Nyikos, alongside Clara Errard and Lily LaBiche.
