Perkins, Williams Tab CAA Postseason Awards

RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston's sophomore Latrice Perkins (Winder, Ga.) and freshman Taylor Williams (Daytona Beach, Fla.) both tabbed Colonial Athletic Association postseason honors in a vote by the league's head coaches, media relations directors and media members on Tuesday.
The awards were announced on the eve of the 2020 CAA Women's Basketball Championship presented by Sonabank to be held on March 11-14 at the Schar Center in Elon, N.C.
"It's nice to see Taylor and Latrice get the recognition that they deserve," Head Coach Robin Harmony said. "This shows great promise for the future of our program. Taylor is the first recruit that I brought into The College since taking over the program and it's great to see her get All-Rookie Team honors. Latrice exceeded everyone's expectations this year, going from scoring four points a game to over 13, and is well-deserving of this award."
Perkins garners her first CAA postseason award and becomes the fifth Cougar to earn All-CAA Third Team honors since The College joined the league in 2013. She joins fellow teammate, Deja Ford, and former teammate, Darien Huff, who both made the list last season.
The sophomore guard ranks ninth in the CAA in scoring with 13.5 ppg, sixth in the CAA in steals with 2.0 per game and 11th in the CAA in field goal percentage (45.7). Perkins notched three double-doubles this season and scored a season-high 29 points against High Point which marked the first time a Cougar scored at least 29 points since 2015.
Williams marks only the third Cougar to earn CAA All-Rookie Team honors and joins fellow teammate Arynn Eady who was honored last year.
The freshman guard ranks second in the CAA in freshman scoring with 9.4 ppg, earned CAA Rookie of the Week on March 2 and notched her first career double-double with career-highs in points (22) and rebounds (13).
