CHARLESTON, S.C. --- Lexi Wierzbicki put down a match-high 10 kills and Tori Carpenter turned in a double-double to lead the College of Charleston volleyball team to a season-opening sweep of Georgia Southern on Saturday evening in TD Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Cougars limited the Eagles to 24 kills and a negative hitting percentage while totaling 11 blocks.
Charleston combined for 34 kills as a team including a 13-kill second set.
Wierzbicki and fellow sophomore transfer Gabi Bailey combined for 17 kills in their first match as Cougars.
The Cougars jumped out to an early lead with a 25-15 first-set win highlighted by five blocks and four aces.

COUGAR OF THE MATCH
Carpenter accounted for her second career double-double with match-highs of 15 assists and 13 digs to go along with one service ace.

NOTABLES

Bailey added nine digs, four blocks and one ace in a solid all-around match.
Wierzbicki also led all servers with three of the Cougars' eight service aces.
Sophomore Emma Falk accounted for five kills and a match-high seven blocks.
Carpenter turned in her second career double-double with match-highs of 15 assists and 13 digs.
Campbell slammed down six kills and added three blocks.
Senior transfer Hazel Brown chipped in 10 digs, four kills and four blocks in her Cougar debut.
Freshman outside hitter Sammy Campion dropped in her first collegiate ace in the third set.
