Wierzbicki Blasts Her Way to CAA Player of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, Va. --- College of Charleston junior Lexi Wierzbicki has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Volleyball Player of the Week for the first time in her career after slamming down a team- and league-best 32 kills in a series sweep of Hofstra this past weekend announced conference officials Monday.
Wierzbicki delivered perhaps the best two-match stretch of her career in Charleston's weekend sweep of Hofstra leading the Cougars with 32 kills (4.57 per set) while compiling a .394 hitting percentage and recording seven blocks. The junior outside hitter paced CofC to a straight-set sweep on Saturday with 13 kills, two blocks and a blistering .545 hitting percentage.
She followed with a career performance in Sunday's 3-1 victory posting a match- and personal-best 19 kills while attacking at a .318 clip. She added five blocks and four digs, and accounted for six kills in each of the first and fourth frames. Wierzbicki paces the Cougars with 238 kills (2.83 per set) and has recorded double-digit kills in 11 of her last 12 matches.
The Cougars return to the court on Saturday when they travel to Newark, Del. to take on Delaware in the first of two tilts in CAA action. First serve is slated for 11 a.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
