CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team fell to Eastern Michigan in straight sets to begin the 2021 campaign on Friday evening at TD Arena on the first night of the 2021 CofC Invitational.

The Eagles held the Cougars to 33 kills and a .076 hitting percentage on the night while combining for 39 kills, nine blocks and a .278 attacking clip. Gabi Bailey and Claire Campbell paced the Cougars with nine and eight kills, respectively, while Campbell recorded a career-high nine digs.

Critical Point
With the College of Charleston leading 10-8 in the third set, Eastern Michigan countered with a 9-2 run to open a 17-12 advantage en route to completing the sweep.

Campbell led the way with eight kills and a team-high digs (nine) while hitting at a .400 clip.
Bailey accounted for a squad-best nine kills including six in the opening frame.
Jasmin Goei chipped in 14 assists and six digs as six Cougars posted at least five digs.
