
Cougars Women's Tennis to Recognize Quartet of Seniors on Saturday

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The College of Charleston women's tennis team will play its final home match of the season on Saturday, April 16 vs UNCW. First serve is set for noon at the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point. Fans can follow along with live scoring here.
With the home finale comes senior day, as the Cougars are set to honor four outstanding senior student-athletes. The four seniors set to be recognized are Kate Earnhardt, Clara Errard, Elizabeth Nowak, and Victoria Walter.
"Clara, Victoria, Lizzie and Kate have been great leaders both on and off the court," head coach Angelo Anastopoulo said. "Besides their incredible tennis talents, Kate is president of SAAC, Victoria is a member of the prestigious Schottland Scholars, Elizabeth is a top Biology student, and Clara works as an emergency responder for CofC EMS. They give so much much of their time both on and off the court and are just fun people to be around. I will miss each of the them but know they will visit often and will be big supporters of the program for life."
Kate Earnhardt - Concord, N.C.
Kate has spent the past two seasons in Charleston after transferring to The College from Appalachian State. Earnhardt posted a 10-10 record in singles as a junior, with the bulk of those matches played in the No. 4 position. This season, Kate has played 17 of her 19 singles match in the fourth spot again, with an overall record of 9-10. In doubles, Earnhardt and Clara Errard have posted a 9-5 record together. Kate is a finance major and tutors fellow finance students in her spare time. She also serves as the President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the chair of the New Student Mentoring Committee.
Clara Errard - Toulouse, France
Errard is in her fourth season as a Cougar and is enjoying a solid senior campaign. Clara is 5-4 in singles action and 10-7 in doubles. Alongside Kate Earnhardt, she is 9-5 in doubles competition. As a junior, Errard posted a 6-6 record in singles play. She brought stability to the No. 6 spot, totaling a 4-1 mark in that position. Clara was inserted into the three spot against North Carolina A&T and Samford and she posted wins in both matches. In her freshman season, Errard picked up four singles victories and seven doubles wins in her first collegiate season. Errard is involved with CofC EMS and plans to attend medical school.
Elizabeth Nowak - Pensacola Beach, Fla.
Nowak is in her third season at CofC after transferring from Lehigh. In a shortened first season in Charleston, Nowak saw action in a handful of matches, picking up a singles win and a doubles win. She enjoyed doubles success in the 2020-21 season, posting a 4-1 record, including a perfect 4-0 alongside Slade Coetzee. This year, Nowak is 10-6 in singles play, with a 3-0 mark in the No. 3 position and a 7-5 tally in the No. 5 spot. Nowak has found success alongisde Maja Jekauc, as the two have posted a 10-4 record as a duo. Elizabeth is a biology majors and wants to be a physician assistant in the future.
Victoria Walter - Vienna, Austria
Victoria is in the midst of her third season at Charleston after transferring from Marshall. In the shortened 2019-20 campaign, Walter won two singles matches against Appalachian State and St. John's. A season ago, Victoria went 5-6 in singles, seeing time in the No. 4, 5, and 6 positions. This season, as a senior, Walter is 7-5 in singles play with a 6-4 record in the No. 6 position and 1-0 in her only doubles action of the season. She has won five of her last seven singles matches. Walter was named to the CAA All-Academic Team for the 2020-21 year. Victoria is an accounting major at The College.
