Smeltzer Tabbed CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston libero Tynley Smeltzer was named CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Smeltzer shared the weekly award with William & Mary's Lindsey Kahren.
Smeltzer recorded 50 digs in the weekend sweep of Towson, helping Charleston become the first CAA team to 15 victories. The senior tallied 20 digs in Friday's straight set victory, leading the defensive attack that held the Tigers to a .045 hitting percentage. Smeltzer followed up with a 30-dig performance in Saturday's five-set win, including 13 digs in the first set. For the weekend, Smeltzer averaged 6.25 digs/set while adding eight assists and a pair of service aces.
Smeltzer earned her second weekly honor of the season and sixth of her career.
Charleston returns to action Friday, Oct. 18 when it faces William & Mary in TD Arena for a weekend series. Opening serves are set for 6 p.m. and 2 p.m. with Saturday serving as the team's Dig Pink match.
