RICHMOND, Va. – For the third time this season, College of Charleston middle blocker Caitlyn Callahan was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Callahan was dominant in her return to UNCW, where she spent the previous two seasons. The graduate student totaled 22 kills, 8 blocks (3 solo) and a .656 attack pct. with just one attack error across the six sets as the Cougars swept the weekend. In Saturday's match, Callahan had 10 kills and five blocks while hitting .600. In Sunday's win, the Wellsboro, Pa., native posted 12 kills, a .706 hitting pct. and three blocks. This season, Callahan has 11 matches with double-digit kills and 13 contests with five-plus blocks. Her 131 total blocks in 2024 are the most by a Cougar since 2011.
This marks Callahan's third weekly award of the season, having previously earned the offensive honor Sept. 16 and 30. Callahan's three offensively honors are the most since Devon Rachel's three in 2018.
Charleston concludes the regular season at home against Northeastern Nov. 15 and 16. Both matches are scheduled for 1 p.m. with the team celebrating its 50th season. Prior to Saturday's match, the Cougars will honor the senior class in a pregame ceremony.
