STATESBORO, GA. - The College of Charleston softball team dropped their midweek contest to Georgia Southern, 3-2, in the teams' second matchup of the season.
The Eagles took an early lead after scoring two runs in the first off an RBI single and a sacrifice fly.
Both teams went scoreless for the next three innings before the Cougars tied the game in the top of the fifth.
Mia Dittoe bunted to bring home
Karlee Hughes from third, and
Kaytlin Stacey followed up with an RBI double to score the tying run.
The Eagles responded in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single that proved to be the game-winning run.
The Cougar bats could not complete the comeback as
Aniz Roman's lead-off single in the opening inning accounted for the only other hit.
Charleston returns home this weekend for their CAA home opener against Stony Brook. The first game of the series is set for Friday at 5:00 p.m.
