Cougars Top Quakers After Four Run Second

CHARLESTON, S.C. - After the early rain cleared, Charleston played host to Penn in game two of a now three-game series. The Cougars jumped out to 1-0 lead before Penn struck back with a pair of runs in the 2nd. In the bottom of the 2nd, Charleston re-took the lead for good with a four-run rally to go up 5-2. Both teams matched runs from there as Charleston clinch a series win with a 7-4 victory.

Trotter Harlan got things started with a RBI double in the first inning to put the Cougars up early. The Quakers quickly responded with a two run homer in the top of the 2nd. In the bottom half, Luke Wood immediately tied it back up with a solo shot to left. Will Baumhofer then put Charleston up with an RBI single. After Dylan Johnson scored on a pass ball, Kevin Madden picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice. After Penn got a run in the 3rd, Trotter Harlan drove in his second run of the day with an RBI single to score Baumhofer.

In the 7th, Penn made it a 6-4 ballgame on a homer to left. In the bottom half, Cole Singsank hit a solo shot to make it a three run game once again. After 2.0 innings out of the bullpen by Jed Bradford and Alex Lyon, Davis Aiken came in to pitch the 9th. Aiken retired the Quakers in order to pick up his third save of the season.
