CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston head women's basketball coach Robin Harmony has announced the signing of three transfers to the Cougars 2024-25 roster.
McKinley Brooks-Sumpter joins the program from UNC-Ashville, where she spent three seasons. Brooks-Sumpter was named to the Big South All-Conference Second team for the 2023-24 season after averaging 14.6 points per game and 6.9 rebounds. A native of South Carolina, Brooks-Sumpter started 54 games for the Bulldogs after competing her freshman season at USC-Upstate.
"She is a combo guard that can initiate offense as a lead guard, or play off the ball and score in bunches," said Harmony. "She fits our defensive system being able to pick up the ball 94 feet."
Nyah Willis joins the Cougars as a graduate guard from San Jose, California. A transfer from North Carolina A&T, Willis played two seasons with the Aggies, averaging 6.7 points and 1.9 rebounds in the previous season.
"Nyah is a wing that can play multiple positions," says Harmony. "She can defend 1-4 defensively. She will be an asset ball hawking in our pressure defense. Offensively, she's a slasher than can finish at the rim through contact."
Sophia Tougas joins the roster from CSU Bakersfield as a redshirt junior guard. From Glens Falls, N.Y., Tougas averaged 6.6 points and 4.6 rebounds during the 2023-24 season. During her two seasons with the Roadrunners, Tougas played 57 games and started in 30.
"She is a guard with great length that stretches the floor for us from range," said Harmony. "She's a deceptive rebounder and a ball hawk that can defend multiple positions."
