MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston rode a complete game from Kendall Thackston for a 4-1 win over Fordham before dropping an 11-0 decision to Virginia Tech on the second day of the Charleston Invitational at Patriots Point.
Game 1
The Cougars host Virginia Tech again on Sunday at 1 p.m. to wrap up the Charleston Invitational.

Game 1
- Thackston made her Cougar debut a success, allowing only one run and striking out four in going the distance.
- The junior transfer from East Tennessee State scattered nine hits and kept the shutout intact until the Rams scored in the sixth.
- Charleston struck quickly in the first on two hit batters and an RBI single by Kaytlin Stacey.
- The lead grew to 3-0 in the second on a pair of solo home runs by Sierra Paradis and Savannah Lockhart.
- Lockhart singled with two outs in the fourth and scored on a double by Halle Cannon to make it 4-0.
- Cannon also starred defensively, throwing out a runner at the plate in the opening frame.
- Nationally-ranked Virginia Tech banged out 14 hits in moving to 4-0 on the weekend.
- Austy Miller singled in the third to load the bases with one out but a double play ended the threat.
- Mackenzie Mathis started in the circle and struck out three in 3.2 innings.
