
Softball Falls to Towson in Series Opener

TOWSON, Md. – Charleston dropped the first game of the series 5-4 at Towson Thursday afternoon.
Charleston is now 25-27 overall and 13-9 in the conference.

- Charleston had a 1-0 lead coming out of the first inning when Bronwyn Conroy scored off an Austy Miller groundout.
- In the top of the second, Charleston would load the bases on two hits but would not connect the runs. Towson tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the inning.
- Savannah Scott singled and advanced to second on a throw, before scoring the Cougars' second run of the day to take back the lead in the top of the third.
- Leela Langston hit an RBI single in the top of the fourth, and Conroy scored from second base. Halle Cannon then tripled and Langston scored for a 4-1 lead to end the inning.
- The Tigers would have a four-run bottom of the sixth to take the lead and leave the final score 5-4.
- Charleston had 10 hits and three Cougars had two.
- Mackenzie Mathis had five strikeouts while Campbell Schaen had one.
- Charleston plays Towson Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. for the final series of the regular season.
