CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's soccer team travels to Elon for the program's first CAA contest of the season to face the Phoenix on September 6.
 
The Cougars enter the match fresh off a ranked 2-0 win against then No. 15 North Carolina. Junior Matt Lenert scored his first goal of the season early in the second half. Graduate student Pavel Dashin added the insurance goal through the Tar Heels defense off the assist from Stian Bendvold just six minutes later to secure the victory. 
 
The Cougars are no stranger to the Phoenix, coming into the match with an even 12-12-2 record. Due to the league's unbalanced schedule, the programs last met in 2023 at Patriots Point when Elon defeated Charleston 2-0. Ezra White and Lenert were the only current Cougars to play in the match.
 
This will be the first of two meetings between the clubs this season with the Phoenix making the return trip to Charleston on October 18.
 
Elon enters their second CAA contest of the year 2-0-1, earning wins over conference foe UNCW and non-conference opponent Radford. Martin Kozak and Dominik Renz each have three points so far this season on their stat lines.  
 
Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m at Rudd Field. The match will be broadcast on FloCollege.
