The 30th-ranked College of Charleston baseball team travels to San Antonio to take on Texas-San Antonio in a three-game weekend series beginning at 4:00 eastern on Friday.
The Cougars are 12-1 overall and have won eight in a row including a thrilling 5-4, 10-inning decision over 2nd-ranked South Carolina on Tuesday at Joe Riley Park.
UTSA is 4-9 on the season with losses coming to Rice, Houston and Baylor.
Charleston will send righty Nick Chigges (3-0, 2.82) to the mound in the opener. Chigges, a senior, is 23-4 in his career and is just one win shy of tying the school's all-time victory record set by Scott Oliver. Oliver posted a 24-19 record from 1996-99. UTSA will counter with rhp Josh Ruffin.
The Cougars will pitch lefty Michael Bunton (2-0, 5.09) in the second game and either right-hander Jake Goldberg (3-0, 1.77) or lefty Jeff Beliveau (1-0, 1.45) in Sunday's finale. UTSA is slated to pitch righties Bradley Chovanec (Sat.) and Blake Brannon (Sun.) in the final two games.
Saturday's game is scheduled to start at 3:00 with the finale set for noon on Sunday. Both times are eastern.
