
Schlitter, Harrington Pace CofC Past Elon, 19-7

Brian Schlitter pitched seven strong innings in relief and Michael Harrington homered and drove in a school-record tying seven runs as 24th-ranked College of Charleston downed Elon, 19-7, in the rubber game of its three-game Southern Conference series before 311 at Latham Park on Sunday.
Charleston improved to 36-12 overall and 17-4 in league play. Elon fell to 27-23 and 14-10. Charleston plays at Coastal Carolina in a 1:00 start on Tuesday at Coastal Federal Field, home of the Class A Myrtle Beach Pelicans.
Harrington, who finished 4-for-5 with four runs scored, hit a solo homer to center in the first, grounded a two-run single to center in the third, had a sacrifice fly to left field in the fourth and two-run doubles in the sixth and ninth innings. He missed out on an RBI chance in the seventh when he bounced into a double play with the bases loaded.
Schlitter (4-3) picked up the win allowing only two runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out six. Zach Booker (4-4) suffered the loss surrendering 10 runs, four earned, on 12 hits over 5 1/3 innings.
Charleston freshman Joey Bergman added four hits including his first collegiate homer, a two-run shot to center in the seventh that gave Charleston a 12-7 lead. Alex Garabedian, who homered in all four games this week, hit his 11th homer of the season in the ninth. Graham Maiden's eighth homer of the season was a three-run shot to right center in the ninth.
The Cougars, who had 23 hits, got four hits and three runs scored from Gabe Marchant.
