Trailing 17-9, the Cougars came to life as they went on a 9-4 run to narrow the margin to 21-18.

With the match tied 1-1, neither team would give ground at the beginning of the third set as they battled through 11 ties before a pair of Davidson errors gave the Cougars a 13-11 advantage. After extending that lead to 15-12 and forcing a Wildcat timeout, Charleston kept the pressure on as they used a 4-1 run, capped off by back-to-back service aces from junior outside hitter Emily Sawin (New Lenox, Ill.), to make it 19-13.
Following Davidson's final timeout of the set, the Cougars maintained their advantage and proceeded to put the game away at 25-17 and take a 2-1 match lead.
