
Women's Soccer Falls to Davidson, 2-0

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The College of Charleston women's soccer team was defeated by Davidson in Southern Conference action on Thursday night. The Cougars controlled the pace of play and a 16-12 shot advantage but couldn't capitalize and ultimately fell, 2-0.
The Cougars fall to 6-9 (3-4 SoCon) with the loss while the Wildcats improve to 5-7-3 (1-3-3 SoCon).
"We did a great job of attacking both early in the game and all the way up to the 90th minute," said head coach Christian Michner. "We created a ton of chances but we need to be better inside of 18 yards on both ends of the field, attacking and defending.
"Davidson is a blue-collar team that works hard and does a great job creating chances and on restarts. That's exactly what they did tonight.
The Cougars created several chances early in the match and fired a shot off the crossbar in the opening minutes.
CofC controlled the majority of the first half but Davidson was awarded a penalty kick and Allison Drutchas capitalized in the 31st minute to put the Wildcats up, 1-0.
The Cougars had a 6-4 shot advantage in the first half but still went into the locker room trailing by the same 1-0 deficit.
The Cougars created quality chances throughout the entire second period as well but couldn't find the back of the net.
Davidson extended its lead in the 80th minute on a free kick when Amanda Flink got her head on a ball in the box and flicked the ball inside the far post. Drutchas picked up her third point of the night with an assist on the play.
The Cougars concluded their road stretch and return home for their final four matches of the season. The first comes against Georgia Southern on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Patriots Point.
