TUCSON, Ariz. – College of Charleston baseball reentered the national rankings this week when the Cougars were picked 16th in the Collegiate Baseball Poll.
CofC will be making its second program appearance in a Super Regional this weekend when Charleston travels to Texas Tech. Charleston advanced to the Atlanta Super Regional in 2006.
College of Charleston swept through the NCAA Gainesville Regional with a win over the tournament's No. 2 overall seed in Florida, and wins over Long Beach State. Charleston's pitching staff allowed just seven runs over the three games, while CofC's offense scored in every first inning and only trailed for two innings the entire weekend.
This week marks the second time this season that CofC has entered the national rankings. The Cougars were 29th in the NCBWA poll back on March 3. Charleston's highest ranking in program history came in 2006, when the Cougars were ranked 11th. This ranking is the highest for Charleston baseball during Monte Lee's six-year tenure.
