CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's basketball team (3-6) resurrects an old rivalry from their days in the SoCon on Monday night, when they host the Wofford Terriers (5-5) in TD Arena at 6:30 p.m.
The Cougars picked up a pair of wins on their most recent three-game road trip, dispatching Coastal Carolina at the end of November and North Florida just two days earlier. Tanisha Brown pulled down double-doubles in both wins to bring her career total to 14. She was one of four Cougars to reach double-digit scoring against the Ospreys, and scored a career-best 25 points in her hometown-return against CCU.
CofC and Wofford has an extensive and robust history that dates back to 1984. The Cougars own a dominant 28-8 record all-time, including a 10-2 record solely over the last 10 years. The last time the two teams met in the Lowcountry was in 2013, the last season the Cougars were in the SoCon. On that occasion, the College was able to pick up the 69-60 win on senior night behind Afreyea Tolbert's 16-12 double-double. Latisha Harris (11-8) and Mikaela Hopkins (10-9) each almost pulled down double-doubles of their own.
Wofford has broken even so far this year this season. Their most recent game resulted in a 65-60 loss at the hands of UNCW. On the one hand, Wofford has yet to lose back-to-back games this season, however the Terriers are a scant 1-3 this year in road games. Junior guard Chloe Wanink is the undisputed leader on offense for Wofford, who averages 22.1 PPG. The Terriers are led by second-year head coach Jimmy Garrity.
