Cougars Finish Off Road Trip with Sights Set on William & Mary

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's basketball team (8-16, 5-8) plays its last road game this Friday at 7 p.m. until the regular season finale in March, as it will head to Williamsburg, Va. to take on the William & Mary Tribe (16-8, 6-7) in Kaplan Arena.
Despite incurring two losses last weekend, two Cougars experienced significant individual milestones. New York native Shiclasia Brown erupted for a career-high 25 points in front of friends and family in the game against Hofstra, doing so on a highly efficient 10 of 16 shooting. Later against Northeastern, Breanna Bolden recorded her 321st career steal, breaking Regina Brown's 34-year-old CofC All-Time steals record. Bolden has been remarkably consistent for the Cougars in her senior campaign, having recorded at least 10 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals in every single conference game this year.
The Cougars and Tribe will meet one another for the 10th time on record, with William & Mary holding the 6-3 edge. However, earlier in the season in TD Arena it was the Cougars who emerged as the better team. W&M got out to an early lead, but Bolden sparked the comeback with a monster 24-15 double-double adding three steals and two blocks en route to a 70-60 CofC win, which snapped an 11-game win-streak for the Tribe.
William & Mary opened the conference slate as the hottest team in the CAA, holding a 10-1 record at the time. Since then however, the Tribe has lost more games than they've won, and currently sit at the middle of the pack in the conference with a 6-7 record. Their last game was a win at home over Towson, during which Marlena Tremba led all players with 17 points.
Alexandra Massaquel averages 11.7 points per game as well as a team-high 7.8 rebounds and 1.9 steals to lead the Tribe. She was the most potent player in the Tribe's previous matchup with CofC, notching a 24-17 double-double in defeat. Marlena Tremba leads W&M in scoring with 13.7 points per game, and is a potent long-range threat as evidenced by her 66 of 176 (37.5%) from deep on the season. Abby Rendle is also a force on the interior, and is one of the Top 5 shot blockers in the nation even after embracing a bench role six games ago for William & Mary.
Following the conclusion of their game with the Tribe, the Cougars will return home to face James Madison on Sunday afternoon for their Play4Kay Pink Game.
