Huskies Snap Cougars' Win Streak In Four Set Battle

BOSTON, Mass. --- Four players finished with double digits in kills, and Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) recorded a double-double with 51 assists and 17 digs as the College of Charleston volleyball team fell to Northeastern in a four-set battle on Sunday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association play.
Northeastern (9-6, 2-0 CAA) won the match by scores of 25-23, 25-23, 20-25, and 25-21 while recording 65 kills, 68 digs, seven blocks, and a .246 hitting percentage. The Huskies held College of Charleston (12-4, 1-1 CAA) to 58 kills and a .228 attacking clip as the Cougars also totaled 79 digs and 10 blocks.
Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) and Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) led the way with 14 kills each for the Cougars, as Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) turned in a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs. Madison and Jane Feddersen (Leesburg, Va.) totaled five and four blocks, respectively.
Beckman dished out 51 assists and added 17 digs to account for her sixth double-double of the season, while Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) totaled 12 kills and four blocks. McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) posted 20 digs, and Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) chipped in 18 digs and two service aces.
Athena Ardila and Amy Underdown each recorded a match-high 16 kills to pace the Huskies, while Underdown added 13 digs to account for a double-double. Brigitte Burcescu added 13 kills and three blocks. Samantha Shupe and Kristen Walding dished out 31 and 19 assists, respectively, as Gabrielle Tschannen posted six blocks.
The Cougars return to the court on Wednesday, September 27 when they travel to Wilmington, N.C. to take on UNC Wilmington to continue their road swing to start the CAA slate. First serve is slated for 7:00 pm.
