CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (5-14, 1-7) hits the road for a two-game road-swing in Virginia this weekend, where they will face William & Mary and James Madison.
Tipoff against the Tribe (12-6, 3-4) is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Kaplan Arena on Friday. The Cougars then visit the Dukes (11-7, 7-0) at 2 p.m. on Sunday in JMU's Convocation Center.
The Cougars are looking to snap a six-game skid heading into this weekend's action. Bri Sullivan has been one of the more effective Cougars over the past month, establishing new career-highs in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks on multiple occasions. Sophomore guard Cailin Dorsey has followed suit, and has achieved scoring highs in back-to-back games with a pair of double-digit outings.
The Cougars have met both the Tribe and the Dukes earlier this season, and fell short in both instances. CofC has beaten JMU just once since joining the CAA, but have found considerably more success against William & Mary, winning three of their last five encounters.
William & Mary was the hottest team in the CAA when conference play began, back when they owned an 11-2 overall record. The Tribe has struggled since then however, dropping four of their past five, including a pair of double-digit road-losses last weekend to Hofstra and Northeastern. Center Abby Rendle averages a 13-8, and leads the nation with 88 blocks on the year, while Bianca Boggs is the team's leader in steals (37) and points (291).
While the Tribe have struggled as of late after a hot start, James Madison has had the inverse of that, posting a conference-worst 4-7 mark before rallying to go undefeated in CAA play. In addition, the Dukes have been strong at home, posting a 6-3 in front of their fans at the Convocation Center. James Madison as a team ranks second in the CAA in both defense as well as offensive rebounds, and they boast the highest attendance in the conference with over 2000 fans per game.
