CHARLESTON, S.C. --- After helping the College of Charleston volleyball team secure the first-ever at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament in Colonial Athletic Association history, fourth-year assistant coach Katelyn Harrison has been elevated to associate head coach, announced head coach Jason Kepner on Thursday.
"This is a well-deserved promotion for Katelyn," praised Kepner. "I have had the pleasure of working with her for four years. Her experience and energy have been a big factor on where we are as a program today. I look forward to working with Katelyn for many years to come."
In four seasons, Harrison has helped Kepner guide the Cougars to an 87-41 overall record and a pair of CAA championships. Since her arrival in Charleston, Harrison has mentored four All-CAA First Team selections – including 2017 CAA Player of the Year Krissy Mummey, and 2017 CAA Setter of the Year Allison Beckman.
The Cougars enjoyed perhaps their best season in recent memory in 2017 under Kepner and Harrison's leadership, posting a 27-6 overall record and securing the CAA regular season championship with a 15-1 mark in league play. After advancing to the title match of the CAA Tournament, the Cougars received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament – the first in both program and CAA history.
