Ford Scores 18, Huff Hits 100 Career Starts, As Charleston Falls To JMU

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Deja Ford scored a team leading 18 points, Darien Huff earning her 100th career start, as the College of Charleston women's basketball team fell 91-50 to College Insider Mid-Major No. 11 James Madison on Sunday afternoon.
Darien Huff got the Cougars (5-11, 1-4 CAA) first points of the afternoon with a three pointer, the 22nd straight game the senior has hit at least one from beyond the arc, but four straight turnovers for Charleston gave the Dukes (13-4, 5-1 CAA) a six-point lead.
Arynn Eady finished strongly under the basket to pull Charleston within four early, until the Dukes pushed the lead back out to ten behind an offensive burst.
Four turnovers from Charleston and four baskets from JMU quickly pushed the visitors lead up to 16 via a 15-2 run; another 7-0 offensive spurt giving them a 43-22 lead at the half.
Deja Ford got her first basket of the game with a three early in the third, she made it back-to-back from deep in-front of the Charleston bench with the defense holding JMU scoreless for five straight possessions.
Ford quickly added a third three of the quarter to push her points total to double figures before making it four from deep to eventually finish the quarter with 18 points.
The JMU offense found its stride again in the fourth by scoring six unanswered to force a Charleston timeout with seven minutes left.
The Dukes finished the game on a 13-2 run over the last four minutes, both teams clearing the benches, with the final score 91-50.
Charleston now looks to a road swing at Drexel and Delaware on Friday and Sunday in Philadelphia, Pa., and Newark, Del.
