CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston women's soccer team (1-8-2, 0-2)Â welcomed in the Drexel Dragons (5-4-1, 1-1)Â to Patriots Point for a CAA matchup on Sunday afternoon.

Drexel came storming out of the gate. The Dragons struck first, getting on the scoreboard just four minutes into the match.

th minute, senior goalkeeper
Meredith Holton sold out for a save, diving on the pitch to deny the Dragons a scoring opportunity.

The Cougars' best first half scoring chance came in the 40
th minute, when senior
Kacey Smekrud took a corner kick. Junior
Jenna Snead received the corner, heading a shot just over the goal. The Dragons would carry a 1-0 advantage into the intermission.
In the second half, Holton made an impressive save at the 52-minute mark. A few minutes later, junior
Olivia Freitas had a quality look at the goal, but Drexel's keeper denied the Cougars a score.

The Cougars would have one more look at the net, but senior
Leah Deutsch's shot was saved by Drexel in the 66
th minute. The Dragons were able to deny the Cougars of any scoring chances for the remainder of the match and picked up the 1-0 win. The loss drops Charleston to 0-2 in CAA play, while the Dragons evened up their conference mark at 1-1.
