CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston women's soccer team (1-8-2, 0-2) welcomed in the Drexel Dragons (5-4-1, 1-1) to Patriots Point for a CAA matchup on Sunday afternoon.
 
Drexel came storming out of the gate. The Dragons struck first, getting on the scoreboard just four minutes into the match.

In the 29^th minute, senior goalkeeper Meredith Holton sold out for a save, diving on the pitch to deny the Dragons a scoring opportunity.
 
The Cougars' best first half scoring chance came in the 40^th minute, when senior Kacey Smekrud took a corner kick. Junior Jenna Snead received the corner, heading a shot just over the goal. The Dragons would carry a 1-0 advantage into the intermission.

In the second half, Holton made an impressive save at the 52-minute mark. A few minutes later, junior Olivia Freitas had a quality look at the goal, but Drexel's keeper denied the Cougars a score.
 
The Cougars would have one more look at the net, but senior Leah Deutsch's shot was saved by Drexel in the 66^th minute. The Dragons were able to deny the Cougars of any scoring chances for the remainder of the match and picked up the 1-0 win. The loss drops Charleston to 0-2 in CAA play, while the Dragons evened up their conference mark at 1-1.
