Cougars Primed to Begin Postseason Run Against Blue Hens Thursday

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team will begin its postseason run on Thursday evening when the sixth-seeded Cougars square off against No. 3 seed Delaware in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Championship on the campus of Towson University in Towson, Md. First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m.
The Cougars finished the regular season with a 14-15 overall record and a 9-7 mark in CAA play after taking two from league newcomer North Carolina A&T last weekend. Delaware enters the postseason with a 15-10 overall mark and went 10-6 against conference opponents. The Blue Hens swept the regular season series in the Lowcountry in early October including a marathon five-set thriller on Oct. 2.

The Harvard, Mass. native has tallied nine this season including an 18-kill, 17-dig performance in last Saturday's five-set win over North Carolina A&T.
- Sophomore Jasmin Goei has been nothing short of superb over the last two weekends running the offense as the Cougars' primary setting averaging 9.80 assists per set in that span. The Cougars' attack thrived against North Carolina A&T under Goei's direction averaging 14 kills per set including a 44-kill outburst in CofC's sweep last Sunday.
- Delaware earned the No. 3 seed in the CAA Tournament after finishing the regular season with a 10-6 record against league opponents.
- CAA Player of the Year Lani Mason leads the attack for the Blue Hens entering the postseason pacing the CAA and ranking fifth nationally averaging 5.10 kills per set.
- Ezgi Basaranlar was named to the All-CAA Second Team and finished the regular season ranked third in the league with an average of 9.78 assists per set.
- The Blue Hens lead the CAA and rank 67th nationally in digs per set (15.60) while ranking second in the league in both kills (13.08) and assists (12.14) per frame.
- Eileen Gex and Savannah Seemans pace the back row averaging 3.91 and 3.58 digs per set, respectively.
