HAMPTON, Va. --- College of Charleston volleyball dominated from start to finish Saturday evening and clinched their spot in the 2023 CAA Volleyball Championship next week sweeping away Hampton 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-19).

Charleston hit a season-high .421 including a .516 mark in the opening set and .556 in the second. Anna Smith led the way with 14 kills on just 22 swings (.545 attack percentage), Lexi Wierzbicki added another double-double (10 kills, 12 digs) and the Cougar defense held Hampton to just .163 thanks to 55 digs and five blocks.

Olivia Mae Van Der Werff added eight kills on just 13 swings (.615 swing percentage), Morgan Cobb put down six in the third set alone and Tynley Smeltzer led the backline with 14 digs and team-high three service aces.

Hampton was led offensively by Kristine Teivane's 11 kills.

Key Cougars

Anna Smith led an efficient Cougar attack with 14 kills on just 22 swings. She finished with a .545 mark, the highest in a single match with at least 12 kills in her career.
Lexi Wierzbicki secured her eighth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 12 digs.
Olivia Mae Van Der Werff hit .615 landing eight kills on just 13 swings.
Emma Appleman had a match-high 24 assists and finished just one dig (9) shy of another double-double.
Jasmin Goei added 15 assists and five digs over the final two sets.
Morgan Cobb put down six kills on 11 swings in the third set alone.
Tynley Smeltzer had 14 digs, three service aces and five assists, moving within 17 of the 1,000 career digs mark.

Match Notes

College of Charleston officially clinched a spot in the CAA Tournament with a win.
Charleston hit a season-best .421 in the sweep putting down 52 kills and committing just seven errors. Saturday's efficient attack was the first time the Cougars hit .400 in a single match since hitting .424 against William & Mary in 2018.
Saturday was the first road sweep since taking down crosstown foe Charleston Southern in September.
Anna Smith hit at least .500 for a second-straight Saturday after swinging at a .500 mark last week in a sweep of Hofstra.
