Women's Basketball Edges Elon in 60-58 Win

ELON, N.C.—The College of Charleston women's basketball team edged Elon University 60-58 on Sunday afternoon in Elon.
The Cougars moved to 11-14 with a CAA record of 6-9. Elon dropped to 8-18 with a CAA record of 4-11.
 
Jada Logan led Charleston with 23 points and followed by Alexis Andrews with 17 points. Adaora Onwumelu had 10 points in 14 minutes for Charleston.
 
Evonna McGill had a double-double for Elon with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Charleston will hit the road one final time this season to face UNCW on Friday, February 24 before the conference tournament starts.
 
How it Happened
The Cougars moved to 11-14 with a CAA record of 6-9. Elon dropped to 8-18 with a CAA record of 4-11.

How it Happened
- After the Phoenix began the first quarter with a 5-0 run, the Cougars fought back with a 14-5 run to bring the score to 14-10 with just under three minutes left. After a battle of runs, Charleston held their own on defense only allowing two points from Elon giving the Cougars a 10-point lead to end the first.
- The second quarter of play consisted of a head-to-head competition. The Cougars edged the Phoenix after a stellar first-half performance for a 32-27 edge going into the locker room.
- Charleston jumped to an 11-0 run in the third quarter to give them a 16-point lead with just under five minutes left. Elon struck back with a 10-3 run to cut Charleston's lead to 11 to end the third at 49-38.
- Elon shot 35.2% compared to Charleston's 10% however the Cougars' nine free throws in the fourth quarter gave them a slight edge over the Phoenix to secure the win.
- Logan recorded her 11th 20-plus point game on the season and third in a row.
- Andrews had her ninth game in double figures this season and was one shy of her career-high in points (18).
- This was Charleston's first win at Elon since December 2012.
- Charleston will finish the regular season with two home games vs. Towson (Feb. 26) and Northeastern (Mar. 2).
