CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston and Charleston Southern meet for the first of two times in 2023 with the Cougars ending a five-game homestand.
Â
The Buccaneers are the first of three opponents on Charleston's schedule with 70-plus previous meetings in series history joining The Citadel (99) and Georgia Southern (73). Charleston owns a 59-17 advantage in those 76 meetings since 1991 – their most versus a single opponent in that span.
Â
Last season saw the Cougars take both games of a rain-shortened weekend set posting 10-plus runs in each contest – 10 in the first and 14 in the second. Those two wins sparked what would be a 4-game stretch in which Charleston scored at least 10 runs in a game – Charleston would score 14 runs in each of those final three contests.
Â
Tuesday is also the first of four games against Holy City foes as the Cougars are set to play at CSU in early May, at The Citadel next Wednesday and host The Citadel in the home finale May 16 from Patriots Point.
