CONWAY, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball fell to No. 10 Coastal Carolina Wednesday night 12-4 as the Chanticleers hit four home runs and take the rematch.
Joseph Mershon hit his fourth homer of the season and
Isaiah Rainge picked up his first collegiate RBI in the loss.

How It Happened
- Coastal Carolina grabbed an early 2-0 lead on a two-run home run from Caden Bodine in the first inning.
- Joseph Mershon answered with a solo home run in the top of the third – his fourth of the year – to cut it to 2-1 Coastal Carolina.
- Charleston would take their first lead of the night scoring three runs in the fourth inning on Chanticleer miscues. The first run coming home a dropped ball at second on a double play attempt, the second on Isaiah Rainge's RBI single and third on a delayed steal of home.
- Coastal Carolina answered with a three-spot in the bottom of the fourth for a 5-4 lead on a leadoff home run then two-run single.
- The Chanticleers added two more in the sixth on a two-run home run for a 7-4 advantage.
- Coastal Carolina hit their fourth longball of the night, a three-run home run in the eighth to make it 10-4. A two-run single would push the lead to 12-4 and make it a five-run frame.
Notes
- Joseph Mershon smacked his fourth home run of the season to get Charleston on the board. His solo shot pushed his on-base streak to a team-best 24, reaching safely in every game he's played.
- Isaiah Rainge collected his first collegiate RBI to give Charleston a 3-2 lead with an RBI single.
- JT Marr's two hits led the Cougars offensively as he pushed his hit streak to six in the process. Marr also leads the team alongside Cole Mathis in multi-hit games with 13 on the season.
- Cole Mathis walked twice to extend his on-base streak to 20.
