CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston volleyball head coach Jason Kepner announced the hiring of Riley Taylor as an assistant coach entering the 2025 season.
"I am excited to announce the addition of Riley to my staff," said Kepner. "She brings a great combination of coaching and playing experience to the program. Having played for and coached with two of my longtime assistants, Riley has an idea of how our program is run. Her competitiveness, leadership and work ethic as a player along with her experience coaching the setters and middles at Belmont, will be a huge asset right away. I can't wait for her arrival and to see the impact she can have on our program."
Taylor spent the previous three seasons as an assistant coach at Belmont University, primarily working with the setters. In 2023, Taylor helped Belmont earn its first trip to the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Tournament since joining the conference, winning its first postseason contest since 2015. During the campaign, the Bruins also collected their first Power 5 victory since 2014, defeating Syracuse in straight sets.
"I am beyond excited to join Charleston volleyball to work with Jason and the rest of the staff," said Taylor. "I cannot wait to be a part of this program and continue to maintain the championship culture that's been built here."
Taylor began her coaching career as a volunteer assistant in 2020 following her playing career at her alma mater, Eastern Michigan. A four-year starter with the Eagles from 2016-19, Taylor ranks eighth all-time in Eastern Michigan history in career assists, tenth in career service aces and was a five-time Mid-American Conference (MAC) setter of the week. Taylor played a key role in the Eagles' run to a 2018 MAC Championship and NCAA Tournament berth.
Taylor joins a Charleston program that is coming off one of its best seasons in program history, winning the 2024 CAA Regular Season and Conference Tournament en route to its tenth NCAA Tournament berth in the last 23 seasons.
