WASHINGTON, D.C.- The College of Charleston women's basketball team defeated Delaware 87-49 in the CAA quarterfinals on Friday, March 14 to open tournament play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Four Cougars notched double-digit scoring in the win as CofC advances to the semifinals of the CAA tournament.
- Charleston held the 12-point edge on the Blue Hens at the break after a 7-0 run.
- The Cougar defense forced 27 turnovers on the day with 38 points off turnovers. Charleston grabbed 19 steals in the matchup.
- CofC outscored Delaware 26-11 in the final quarter to secure the win, tallying their ninth-straight win. With the victory, Charleston improves to 24-6 on the season, setting a new program record for the most wins in a season in the Division I era.
LEADING COUGARS
- Taryn Barbot led the team with 24 points, nailing four triples with seven rebounds and four assists.
- Taylor Barbot grabbed a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, also adding five assists.
- Lara Rohkohl also added double-digits to the board with 16 points and seven rebounds.
- Jazmyn Stone downed 13 points on the night backed by three buckets beyond the arc.
