CHARLESTON, S.C.- Charleston women's basketball took down UNCW on Sunday afternoon inside TD Arena, 99-63.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars dominated from the start, knocking down 31 points in the first quarter alone, led by Taryn Barbot with 16 points.
- Charleston's hot hand continued, as CofC hit 13 triples on the day. Taryn Barbot added six while Jazmyn Stone tallied five.
- Four Cougars notched double-digit scoring on the day, including Taylor Barbot with 16 points and a career-high 12 assists.
- Charleston forced 29 turnovers, translating to 37 points. The Cougar defense remained solid, holding UNCW to just six points in the second quarter and grabbing 15 steals on the day.
- With the win, CofC sweeps UNCW on the season and locks the double bye in the conference tournament.
LEADING COUGARS
- All eyes were on Taryn Barbot, as the sophomore guard knocked down 40 points, tying the program record for most points in a single game. Barbot shot 6-11 from the three-point line and added seven rebounds. She has tallied 20+ points in the last three of four games.
- Stone added 19 points to the board, supported by a stellar performance from beyond the arc, knocking down five triples.
- Taylor Barbot added a double-double with a career-high 12 assists and 16 points.
- McKinley Brooks-Sumpter earned 10 points on the day, along with five rebounds.
